An Architectural Draftsman is a professional who prepares detailed drawings and plans used in the construction and design of buildings. Working under the direction of architects or engineers, they transform conceptual designs into technical drawings that guide construction teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create 2D and 3D architectural drawings using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp.
  • Interpret architectural sketches and specifications to produce accurate technical plans.
  • Prepare detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction documents.
  • Coordinate drawings with structural, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Make revisions based on client or architect feedback.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with building codes, safety regulations, and zoning laws.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of building construction methods and architectural design principles.
  • Attention to detail and precision in measurements and scale.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Typically holds a diploma or associate degree in drafting, architecture, or a related field.
