Job Description: Power House Manager

Position Overview:

The Power House Manager is responsible for managing the powerhouse, electrical systems and an 8000 KV substation across three of the organization's largest manufacturing units. This role ensures efficient power generation, safe electrical operations, and effective energy distribution to support uninterrupted manufacturing processes. The manager leads a team of skilled professionals and ensures compliance with regulatory standards, energy optimization, and cost management.

Key Responsibilities:

Power House Operations:

  • Oversee the operation of boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems to ensure reliable power generation for all three units.
  • Monitor and optimize power generation processes to meet the energy demands of the manufacturing units.
  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for powerhouse equipment.

  • Substation Management (8000 KV):

  • Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the 8000 KV substation, including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
  • Monitor voltage regulation and load distribution to support manufacturing requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections, testing, and maintenance to ensure reliability and safety.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve high-voltage electrical issues promptly.

  • Electrical Systems Oversight:

  • Manage the installation, maintenance, and repair of plant-wide electrical systems, including wiring, switchgear, and distribution panels.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulatory requirements across all three units.
  • Respond to and resolve complex electrical issues affecting operations.

  • Energy Optimization:

  • Analyze energy usage patterns across the units and implement energy-saving strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Optimize power distribution to minimize energy wastage and improve performance.

  • Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and manage a team of powerhouse operators, electricians, and substation technicians across three units.
  • Provide regular training to enhance technical skills and promote safety awareness.
  • Conduct performance reviews and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards for powerhouse, substation, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct regular safety drills, audits, and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Maintain detailed records for compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.

  • Budget and Resource Management:

  • Prepare and manage budgets for powerhouse, electrical systems, and substation operations.
  • Oversee the procurement of fuel, spare parts, and equipment, ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Monitor operational costs and implement measures to stay within budgetary limits.

  • Project Management:

  • Plan and oversee projects related to equipment upgrades, expansions, or capacity enhancements for the powerhouse, substation, and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project completion.
  • Implement innovative technologies to improve reliability and operational efficiency.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive logs and records of operations, maintenance activities, and incidents.
  • Prepare and present reports on power generation, substation performance, energy consumption, and maintenance activities for senior management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 1015 years of experience in managing powerhouses, electrical systems, and high-voltage substations, with experience in 8000 KV systems preferred.
  • Proven experience managing multi-unit or large-scale manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment, power distribution systems, and electrical regulations.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems and advanced troubleshooting techniques.

Skills:

  • Expertise in power generation, substation operations (8000 KV), and electrical maintenance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
