  • Good Knowledge of Sinter Plant, Raw Material ( Coke, Sinter, Iron, Pallet, Fluxes) , Blast Furnace Metallurgy, Process Control, Furnace Operation. Monitoring Process Flow in Sinter Plant – Storage and proportioning unit, Mixing and nodulizing unit, Sintering machine including primary crusher, Ignition and post Ignition Hearth, Sinter cooler, Secondary crushing unit, Cold sinter screening unit, Emergency sinter storage and dispatch of sinter to blast furnace, Waste gas-dedusting system, Plant dedusting unit.
  • Record Process Deviations/ abnormalities that may impact product quality, blast furnace operation including any potential breakdown due to process.
  • Collaborate with all key team members in BF , Sinter Plant Operation, SMS and formulate SOPs through implementation of Critical to Quality Parameters at each and every process.
  • Good Knowledge on Burden Preparation & Charging Control, Top Gas Control, Hot Metal and Slag Drainage Control, Heat and Mass Balance , Optimisation of fuel rate, emerging Technlogies to reduce carbon footprint in BF area.
  • Knowledge on ISO 9001 , implementation of QA systems, TDCs/ specifications at all stages of processes starting from mines, yard and all steps in sinter plant to Blast Furnace and Hot Metal Quality to SMS . Knowledge on problem solving tools such as 7 QC tools, Six Sigma, 8D method .
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance: Control emissions, reduce energy losses, and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Stable Bed Permeability: Ensuring uniform sinter bed permeability for efficient gas flow.
  • Optimal Sinter Quality: Controlling chemical and metallurgical (RI, RDI, Softening-Melting) properties required for Blast Furnace.
  • Efficient Heat Utilization: Managing combustion and heat transfer to maximize energy efficiency.
  • Emission Control: Reducing environmental pollutants such as NOx, SOx, and dust.

Qualification and experience:

B. TECH METALLURGICAL ENGG with proven experience in process control of BF and SP in mega integrated iron and steel units with minimum 2 MTPA production capacity.
