Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Middleware Developer with expertise in Android app development and payment terminal integration (PAX devices). The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining middleware solutions that connect Android-based POS applications with payment processors, ensuring secure, seamless, and PCI-compliant transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain middleware to integrate PAX Android payment devices with POS/CRM systems.

Implement and optimize payment workflows, including authorization, capture, refunds, voids, and settlement.

Integrate and maintain the PAX Android SDK (e.g., NeptuneLite/other SDKs) for handling EMV, NFC, swipe, and PIN transactions.

Design secure APIs (REST/gRPC) to connect POS, middleware, and payment gateways.

Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, EMV, and P2PE standards by handling card data securely via semi-integration.

Work with payment gateways (e.g., , TSYS, First Data) for transaction routing and reconciliation.

Implement robust logging, monitoring, and error handling for transaction auditability.

Collaborate with QA and business teams to test using simulators, test cards, and sandbox environments.

Provide documentation and training for deployment, configuration, and ongoing support.

Participate in requirements discussions to identify gaps and recommend solutions for future releases.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong proficiency in Java/Kotlin for Android development.

Hands-on experience with PAX payment SDKs and semi-integration models.

Solid understanding of RESTful API development and backend integration.

Knowledge of payment processing flows (auth, capture, settlement, refunds).

Familiarity with PCI-DSS, EMV, P2PE security standards.

Experience with Android Studio, Gradle, and version control (Git).

Ability to work with cloud-based middleware (Google Cloud is a must).

Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, especially in payment transaction environments.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Android apps is preferred.

Nice to Have

Experience with other payment terminals (Verifone, Ingenico, Clover).

Knowledge of message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) for asynchronous communication.

Prior experience in POS systems, fintech, or retail software development.
