We are a large, export-oriented packaging manufacturing vertical within a diversified industrial group, with revenues of ~4,500 Cr. As we scale, we are focused on institutionalising systems, controls, and governance, while retaining operational agility.

We are seeking a senior Internal Audit & Risk professional to act as an independent assurance and governance partner to the Promoters and Board. This role is central to strengthening financial discipline, process integrity, risk management, and audit maturity across manufacturing and export operations.

Responsibilities

  1. Internal Audit Framework & Governance

  2. Design, implement, and continuously improve a risk-based internal audit framework across:

  3. Finance & accounts
  4. Procurement & vendor management
  5. Inventory & stores
  6. Sales, receivables & credit control
  7. Capex & project controls
  8. Manufacturing operations, yields & losses
  9. Establish annual and quarterly audit plans aligned with business risks and growth priorities.

  10. Ensure audit practices align with best-in-class professional standards for large manufacturing organisations.

  11. Financial & Transactional Audits

  12. Oversee and periodically perform:

  13. Cheque / payment audits
  14. Bank & treasury controls
  15. Expense reimbursements
  16. Delegation of authority (DoA) compliance
  17. Strengthen controls around:
  18. Vendor payments
  19. Customer credit
  20. Export documentation and incentives

  21. Related-party transactions

  22. Operational & Manufacturing Audits

  23. Conduct audits focused on:

  24. Raw material consumption
  25. Yield losses, wastage, and variances
  26. Plant-level SOP adherence
  27. Production planning vs actuals

  28. Work closely with plant teams to identify control gaps without disrupting operations.

  29. Risk Management & Fraud Prevention

  30. Develop and maintain a risk register for the packaging vertical.

  31. Identify and investigate:
  32. Process leaks
  33. Control circumvention
  34. Potential fraud indicators

  35. Recommend preventive controls rather than post-facto policing.

  36. Board & Promoter Reporting

  37. Independently present:

  38. Key audit findings
  39. Risk observations
  40. Systemic issues
  41. Trend-based insights
  42. Escalate critical issues directly to the Board / Promoters, with clarity and evidence.

  43. Track closure of audit observations and corrective actions.

  44. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  45. Build and manage a small internal audit team responsible for execution and follow-ups.

  46. Define SOPs, checklists, and documentation standards.

  47. Coach junior auditors to think beyond checklist audits.

  48. Process Improvement & Institutionalisation

  49. Partner with management to:

  50. Improve SOPs
  51. Strengthen internal controls
  52. Simplify processes without weakening governance
  53. Support the groups journey towards higher audit maturity, potential PE/IPO readiness, or global best practices (as applicable over time).

Preferred candidate profile

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) mandatory
  • 8–15 years of post-qualification experience
  • Strong industry experience in manufacturing
  • Prior exposure to:
  • Internal audit in large organizations
  • Manufacturing plant audits
  • Export-oriented businesses
  • Experience working with promoters, boards, or audit committees
