Key Responsibilities

  1. Circuit & System Design

Design and develop low-noise, high-stability circuits for detector biasing, amplification, and readout.

Develop PCB layouts for high-speed and cryogenic-compatible electronics using CAD tools (Altium, KiCad, Cadence, etc.).

Ensure proper impedance matching, grounding, and shielding in RF and DC systems.

  1. RF & High-Frequency Electronics

Develop and characterize coaxial and waveguide-based readout systems for quantum devices.

Test microwave and RF components (LNAs, bias-tees, filters, attenuators) with VNAs and spectrum analyzers.

Support integration of SNSPDs and quantum photonic chips with RF/microwave systems.

  1. Embedded Systems & Control

Program microcontrollers (STM32, Arduino, ARM) and FPGAs for system automation and control.

Interface electronics with data acquisition systems and laboratory instruments.

Implement feedback and control loops for stable operation of detectors and cryogenic systems.

  1. Testing & Instrumentation

Operate oscilloscopes, lock-in amplifiers, low-noise source meters, and other lab equipment.

Develop test protocols for electrical characterization of SNSPDs, cryogenic modules, and photonic devices.

Document test results and contribute to performance benchmarking.

  1. Power & Safety Management

Design and maintain stable low-current and low-voltage sources for sensitive devices.

Ensure electrical safety and compliance in lab setups, especially with high-current or high-voltage subsystems.

Establish and enforce ESD safety measures for sensitive devices.

  1. Documentation & Compliance

Prepare wiring diagrams, circuit documentation, and user manuals for in-house systems.

Maintain records of PCB designs, bill of materials (BOM), and test reports.

Support regulatory compliance for electronic assemblies (EMI/EMC, safety standards).

Desired Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of analog/digital electronics, signal processing, and RF systems.

Experience with cryogenic wiring and low-noise circuit design.

Familiarity with semiconductor devices and superconducting thin films (preferred).

Proficiency in PCB design software and programming (C/C++/Python/FPGA).

Hands-on experience with measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, VNAs, LNAs, lock-in amplifiers).

Good communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work in an R&D-driven environment.
