**Roles and Responsibilities**

Database Administration

a. Installation/re-installation/upgradation of all the databases

b. Creating databases, maintenance of databases for testing, development and production usage.

c. End-to-end management of databases on ongoing basis to ensure smooth functioning

d. Performing database starting, shutdown, handling critical database errors and troubleshooting, resolution of errors, database crash recovery is part of the DBA services

e. Creation of standard operating procedures and adherence to SOP

f. Database growth monitoring and reporting

g. Administration of all database objects, tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures

h. Purging at regular intervals

i. Server Resource monitoring and reporting

j. Monitoring and identifying the spikes

k. Analysis of violation of threshold utilization and action points to resolve them

l. Monitoring inconsistence behaviour of database processes.

Database scheduled jobs and monitoring of these jobs

n. Enabling and disabling database auditing tools as per requirement

o. Database management system hardening as per the security policy of RBI/IPPB/DOP

p. Support for User management including user creation, maintenance of user profiles, granting user access and authorization including roles and responsibilities.

q. Password management

r. Backup management.

s. Logging Case with OEM and Vendor for Priority one issues and keep track of the same till the resolution.

t. RCA to be provided for P1 Tickets

u. Daily Utilization/AWR reports to be provided to bank.

v. Performance tuning of database in case of repeated identified issues and upgrade the database in-case declared EOS by respective OEM.

w. Migrate the database to new hardware in case underlying infra declared EOL/EOS.

x. Quarterly reporting and maintenance of License/inventory management

z. Integration of BCP Disaster Recovery Management tool. The tool has to be provisioned by IPPB.

Capacity Management

a. Table space analysis and management

b. Database parameters monitoring and take necessary actions

c. CPU and Memory usage for database

d. Regular reorg of tables and indexes

e. Database indexing, buffer and cache management, monitoring databases for faults and errors, reorganizing databases, managing database space and table space and aligning database management with IT infrastructure requirements of the organization.

Availability Management

a. Maintain uptime as per the business requirement and defined SLA as per the Scope document signed with bank.

b. Deploy and manage scripts to check for basic database health and proactive monitoring

c. Proactively monitor and review database logs and errors and take appropriate measures to resolve the same.

d. Regular patch analysis and implementation of latest Major/Minor patches as per the best practices

e. To undertake parameter testing of all databases and related components on quarterly basis to establish vulnerability keep them in good health

Change Management

a. Change management of database schema, storage, disk space, table space, user roles, backup and purging etc.

b. Adherence to existing change management

Configuration Management

a. Version Control of scripts for monitoring database

b. Central inventory of all databases

c. Version control of all databases as well as patch levels.

Incident Management

a. Monitoring of all incidents

b. Automation of incident detection and reporting

c. Proper closure of all incidents with approval from all stake holders

d. Resolution of incidents

Problem Management

a. Troubleshooting of issues related to database and providing solution for the same.

b. Resolution of problems as per the support process

c. Root cause analysis

d. Co-coordinating with other teams viz. Application team, Network team, Storage team and Server team, Helpdesk etc. to close the issue.

e. Logging of cases, raise TAC (Technical Advisory Council) with relevant OEM to resolve the corresponding issues.

f. Research information on problems/questions posed by customer on databases

g. Take ownership for end to end support till the resolution of problem. Confirm resolution of the problem with end user and log the final resolution.

Release Management

a. Deployment of new patches/versions

b. Deployment of new technology

c. Managing database upgrades

d. As per IT security policy of the organization, ensure Database patch management with minimum downtime and recommend appropriate patches of Operating System relevant to databases.

Performance Management

a. Database administration and Maintenance to meet performance standards; maximize efficiency and minimize outages on regular and need basis.

b. Setting and tuning system parameters for optimum database response and performance

c. Quarterly review of database performance and ensure appropriate measures for improvement post approvals. Publish quarterly performance reports.
