As a Senior Database Administrator, you are instrumental in researching, evaluating, designing, testing, recommending, and planning implementation of new versions of Oracle database and database tools. May act as a team lead during database implementations and for system operation and maintenance.

Oracle Database team is looking for a hands-on DBA to work on Database Sharding which is a globally distributed, elastic, cloud-native relational database.

Database Sharding is a globally distributed, elastic, cloud-native relational database. This database combines the best of NoSQL and NewSQL technologies with the enterprise capabilities of Oracle RDBMS.

The role requires the individual to be a thought leader with 8+ years of experience in the industry as the individual will act as the product specialist to internal and external stakeholders. The individual will also influence the roadmap of the solution portfolio both for on-premise solutions and cloud solutions.

**Responsibilities**:

- Produce big data demos and hands-on labs
- Act as the key specialist for the product by writing blogs, white papers, technical papers, hosting webinars, etc
- Competitive analysis with likes of MongoDB, Google Spanner, Yugabyte, Cockroach DB, and others
- SME for High Availability using Dataguard/Golden gate, Replication, Deployment patterns for DB
- Enable internal field sales and support organizations for new releases or product launches through content development and training
- Plan and execute product announcements, and help coordinate βeta testing of our technologies

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- **Hands-on Database experience is a must **(any database technology - SQL or NoSQL)
- Experience in HA, Replication, Exadata
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 6+ years of relevant experience and a track record of tangible accomplishments.
- Attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
- Ability to think both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Big Data platform experience with structured and unstructured data
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle or others)
- Experience with Massively Parallel Processing systems
- Experience with technologies like high availability, backup/recovery, disaster/recovery
