Role Summary

WSP is seeking a highly skilled individual for this key leadership role to lead the Project Controls team on major multi-disciplinary project delivery, from concept stage through to detailed design. The role will focus on establishing and implementing Project Controls best practices and leadership through design production, coordination and delivery across multiple discipline teams. Accountabilities of the role include operational performance management, technical and people leadership and project delivery leadership for their team.

The role holder must hold a relevant degree and professional qualification and take a proactive ‘hands on’ approach to all aspects of the role. WSP is seeking an experienced leader in Project Controls Management delivery on major projects. Experience of establishing and running Programme Management Office set ups and in defining appropriate controls procedures and use of appropriate systems and software is essential.

**Responsibilities**:
Project and Technical Delivery
- Lead Project Controls and PMO functions (planning and schedule management, cost management, change management, risk & opportunity management, monitoring, reporting, delay management, etc) through all project lifecycle stages
- Take a strategic lead role on large multidisciplinary projects
- Engage with the Complimentary Resource Centres (CRCs) to ensure that communication and processes are continually improved
- Support the development and delivery of training and awareness sessions
- Continual and early communication of progress and issues with wider project team (e.g. EWN, etc)
- Familiarisation with project relevant standards (ISO, etc)
- Own and effectively manage scope delivery to budget and programme
- Form strong working relationships with other WSP disciplines, external design consultants, stakeholders and clients
- Support production of proposals and project mobilisation and delivery strategies
- Provide leadership and guidance in the successful delivery of projects, ensuring client satisfaction
- Undertake management reporting and communicate to own team, project teams and leadership teams
- Supporting the optimisation of resource planning to deliver project commitments and utilisation
- Manage project risk

People and Team Management
- Responsible for the leadership and support of your team
- Develop capability and grow Project Controls team to suit business and project needs, maintaining a delivery focused environment
- Engage with the Complimentary Resource Centres (CRCs) to understand resource capability and availability
- Input into the recruitment and selection process
- Manage resources to ensure the right resources are utilised effectively at the right time across their team and projects
- Conduct meaningful inductions, performance management reviews and personal development plans that support the development of individuals and the business
- Contribute to succession planning and career development across their team

Key Competencies / Skills
- Strong experience working on metro schemes and station design
- A proven track record of successful project controls delivery at all project lifecycle stages
- The ability to make a difference, pro-actively manage requirements and risks and influence others to deliver successfully
- Excellent inter-personal skills, with good leadership capable of communicating effectively with other members of the project team, stakeholders & Clients
- Preferred qualified status with a relevant globally recognised professional institution
- Significant experience of team management responsibilities including line management and day-to-day operations
- Experience of operating as a lead client contact for consultancy services and the fostering of excellent relationships with Clients and co-professionals

Technical Experience (e.g. Areas, Software)
- Strong fundamental understanding of all aspects of Project Controls
- Extensive international experience in project controls leadership through the entire design and construction cycle for projects
- Ability to lead teams in implementing best practice project administration, which delivers close project control and accurate project reporting and forecasting
- Technical Focus on deploying high standards of commercial acumen in project management, which maximises revenue and margin from project portfolios
- Provide technical solutions on projects
- Ensure all safety, quality, environmental, commercial and project management procedures are followed as relevant to tasks undertaken
- Initiate and participate in project reviews in alignment with the QMS system
- Provide support and guidance to Technical
