**Job Description-Medical Coder**

**Required Specialty-E/M with exposure in Radiology/Surgery/Hospital**

**Experience: Multiple specialties with not more than 4 years**

**Position Title
- Medical Coder / Senior Medical Coder**

**Position Objectives -**
- Review denials for coding lapses and suggest corrective and preventive actions.
- Do coding reviews based on Claims Manager Reports or other compiled data to provide feedback to clients at regular intervals.
- To act as a lead for the coding team, managing daily activities of team, doing quality checks and providing regular feedbacks to the team to maintain accuracy and quality of work provided.

**Position Responsibilities -**
- Thorough understanding of the contents of medical record in order to identify information to support coding.
- Good knowledge of anatomy & physiology of human body and diseases in order to understand etiology, pathology, symptoms, signs, diagnostic studies, treatment modalities, and procedures to be coded.
- Basic understanding of claims form and reimbursement process.
- Abstracts pertinent information from patient medical records. Assigns ICD- 10-CM, CPT/HCPCS codes, and modifiers.
- Reviews and analyzes medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for distinct patient encounters.

Translates/abstracts diagnostic and procedural phrases into coded form - the accurate translation process requires understanding & interpretation of medical reports, industry
