Play a key role as part of Dolby's new R+D Center in Bangalore as a Senior Data and distributed systems Research Leader in our Advanced Technology Group "ATG". **ATG **is the research and technology arm of Dolby Labs. It has multiple competencies that innovate on technologies in audio, video, AR/VR, multimodal applied to gaming, music, professional, broadcast and user-generated content. Many areas of expertise related to computer science and electrical engineering, such as AI/ML, computer vision, image processing, algorithms, digital signal processing, audio engineering, data science & analytics, distributed systems, cloud, edge & mobile computing, natural language processing, knowledge engineering and management, social network analysis, computer graphics, image & signal compression, computer networking, IoT are highly relevant to our research.

**What you’ll do**
- As a senior technologist, you will design and develop the data platform architectures and systems needed to deploy Dolby’s state-of the art audio and video in large-scale, distributed cloud environments. The framework and infrastructure you develop will allow Dolby to provide entirely new virtual, real-time multimedia experiences empowering the next generation of online entertainment.
- Jointly with Dolby’s world-class global audio and video research teams, you will set directions, identify projects and build the system technologies driving Dolby’s cloud business.
- Having a sold background in data science and architecture, you will ensure that data pipelines are well set up and AI models are being constantly trained and updated.
- Collaborate with the internal R&D teams to ensure that AI capabilities are built as democratized tools allowing R&D staff to innovate and work with highest efficiency.
- Work with the IT Infrastructure Engineering teams to ensure that the AI models are scalable, fast and have close to zero downtime.
- As a senior leader, you will manage and mentor a small group of technologists and engineers in the areas of AI, data science, and large scale data systems. You will work with staff to guide the actual work and develop each member’s research methodology.
- You work with ATG technology leaders to co-define projects and assign your staff to global R&D initiatives led by other technology initiative leads. Jointly with upper management, lead resource and work allocation.
- Contribute to developing a dynamic, flexible, transparent, results-oriented and innovative working atmosphere

**Education and desired experience**
- Ph.D. plus at least 5 years of industrial experience/Masters plus at least 9 years of experience with a degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science.
- Very deep understanding and strong record of research in data architectures, distributed systems, data storage and mining, and AI.
- Solid background in data science and XR technologies desired.
- Demonstrated ability to create fundamentally new, novel data architectures and systems.
- Solid academic publication record.
- Strong interest to learn about multimedia technologies and their deployment in large-scale, distributed cloud environments.
- Strong track of inventing and developing large data architectures, distributed systems and/or large data technologies in an industrial research environment.
- Highly skilled in C/C++, Python, Tensorflow, Pytorch etc.
- Experience in guiding and mentoring other researchers.
- Team-oriented work ethic and interested to work with cross-continental teams.
- Strong personal interest in learning, researching, and creating relevant new technologies with high commercial impact.
- Fluent in English.
