Network Architect

The Cisco Certified Architect identifies the architectural expertise required by an organizational setup. They help in the complete set up of network infrastructure for an organization. The architect is responsible for designing computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), internet connections, intranets, and other related communication infrastructure systems. Network architects develop and implement computer network systems for large and small companies. They install routers, modems, and other hardware and software needed to operate data communication networks. They also determine the layout of cables and other network systems components for use within a single building or substantial networks that span cities and countries. They upgrade existing systems to the newest available version.
- Network Architects determine data communication needs at a company and develop the best systems to meet those needs. They oversee the installation and implementation of computer network systems and maintain documentation throughout installation and implementation. They manage staff and ensure projects run on schedule. When upgrading, they might install a new router or switch, security software, or other parts to improve a system's operation. They monitor networking systems regularly and make necessary adjustments and minor repairs that keep systems operating smoothly. They perform scheduled maintenance on network systems to avoid downtime related to networking issues. Network architects need a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related fields.- Oversee customer network documentation such as solution design document, record of change, and network diagrams.

- Design and implement solutions for optical, wired, wireless and security infrastructures in a large and complex environment.

- Provide incident support for customers.
- Troubleshoot architecture as issues arise.
- Test firewall changes, performance tests, etc., provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports.
- Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
- Support various mission critical operations including public safety, medical and utility facilities.
- Establish standards for network hardware and maintain configuration templates including IP addressing and VLAN design to eliminate configuration errors and to streamline deployments.
- Provide high level network engineering needed to enhance the county's evolving network infrastructure like designing path isolation for multiple tenants on the network to provide Internet service.
- Leading a wide range of implementations from recommendation and justification to full implementation and communicate with management.
- Develop, participate and execute GIS operational, tactical and strategic long range planning related to countywide GIS functions.
- Provide direct management of the various activities necessary to develop, maintain and distribute GIS data internally and externally through close supervision and management of division staff and consultant activity.
- Provide recommendations for new products and technology for supporting all layers of the IT infrastructure architecture.
