This role is responsible for all Academic activities (Faculty and Student related) at the PSG College of Nursing. The role also coordinates Research and Development initiates at the department. This role is responsible for developing policies, standardizing procedures and setting the strategic direction of the department in line with the Management’s objectives.
- Responsible for the overall functioning of the College of Nursing at PSG IMS&R
- Responsible for the annual budget of the college in consultation with functional heads
- Responsible for framing of policies, guidelines and SOPs for the College of Nursing, in line with the overall policies of the hospital and ensure adherence
- Ensure complete adherence to the organization’s Code of Conduct in letter and in spirit by self and Faculty; report deviations / take action where found appropriate
- Ensure that all the accreditation requirements of the college are met; constantly strive to exceed accreditation requirements
- Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of students and faculty
**Academic**
- Ensure the payments such as fees and other dues of students are collected on time
- Work to improve the college ranking in National and International surveys / studies
- Monitor student satisfaction levels and student experience - academics, quality of student life on campus etc. meet PSG IMS&R’s targets.
- Lead the design and development of the curriculum at various levels of study - adhere to guidelines of INC and MGR University
- Ensure the efficient delivery of the curriculum to the students under the department - adhere to guidelines of INC and MGR University
- Work closely with Faculty to continuously improve pedagogy; ensure that teaching design and delivery comply with the quality, educational standards and regulations of PSG IMS&R
- Supervise the instructional programs of the department, evaluate lesson plans and observe classes (teaching, as duties allow) on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies
- Interface between College of Nursing and Hospital to ensure that patient linked learning is transferred to the classrooms
- Monitor student performance on a quarterly basis and take steps to address low performance
- Actively promote PSG IMS&R through planned interventions - representation at events, publication of articles in the print media, interviews / shows in the electronic media regarding recent trends, results of PSG IMS&R’s research studies etc.
- Represent PSG IMS&R at National and International bodies / meetings / discussions / seminars
**Research**
- Prepare the annual research budget for the college in consultation with functional heads
- Encourage student participation in research
- Identify research and collaborative partnerships with other educational institutions / other departments / pharmaceutical companies
- Oversee the process of organizing, conducting and evaluating the research programs within the college - including adherence to statutory and other guidelines
- Ensure that research carried out by the College adheres to the established Code of Conduct
- Participate in the process of organizing, conducting and evaluating the research programs within the college
- Guide and supervise students in their research work and thesis writing

**Advocacy**
- Represent the department in International bodies / meetings / discussions / seminars
- Actively promote PSG College of Nursing through planned interventions - representation at events, publication of articles in the print media, interviews / shows in the electronic media regarding recent trends, research studies etc.

**Administrative**
- Ensure that the College meets all statutory guidelines as prescribed by the councils (MCI / INC / MGR University) and accreditation bodies (NABH / NABL / ISO) requirements at all times.
- Conduct review meeting with faculty as per defined frequency to review the Academic activities of the respective department
- Evaluate performance of all faculty in the College of Nursing annually through the ACR forms; Approve ACR forms of other faculty members (Assistant Professors / Associate Professors / Professors) and forward completed forms to HR with recommendations on promotions
- Compute manpower requirements of the department; report consolidated numbers to HR department through the Principal as per schedule.
- Accord approval for leave, advance and travel requisitions of faculty.
- Track performance of students.
- Oversee the preparation of the time table for the Faculty and Students annually
- Analyse and approve the consolidated budgets for the department; monitor performance of departments against set budgets
**Education & Experience Qualifications**:
15+ years’ experience with M.Sc.(N) out of which 12 years should be teaching experience with minimum of 5 years in collegiate programme.
Ph.D.(N) is required.
