- Prepare patients for operations and procedures
- Writing the reports and updating records before completing the shift.
- Responding quickly to emergencies
- Paediatric should know about administering the drugs, injections, blood transfusion and immunization.
- Paediatric nurse involved in the treatment and care of infants, children and teenagers
- To carry out duties delegated to her /him in floors effectively.
- To provide clean and therapeutic environment to the patient to provide a comfortable and clean bed.
- To check and maintain equipment’s and stocks and use them judiciously.
- To be punctual on duty and follow hospital policies.
- To maintain nurses records as per hospital policy
- Identifies changes in a child’s signs and symptoms and intervenes in emergency situations
- Differentiates between normal and abnormal physical findings
- Participates in activities to manage a child’s pain levels
- Serves as a child advocate
- Evaluates a child for signs and symptoms of abuse
- Administers medication using age-appropriate guidelines
- Determines a child’s needs related to pain management
- Analyses situations to anticipate pathophysiological problems and detect changes in status
- Maintains privacy and confidentiality in nurse/child relationships
- Involves the child and family in the care plan and determines the child’s needs based on a careful analysis of symptoms in relation with their growth and development
- Performs physical examinations, such as measuring vitals, taking blood and urine samples, and ordering diagnostic tests
- Explains to parents and families how to take care of their children and protect their health.
- Prepares patients for surgical procedures
- Paediatric RN assists paediatricians by assessing a patient's needs and providing initial patient care.
- They help families deal with a child's illness or injury and often offer information on nutrition and diet.
- They also draw blood, administer medication and give childhood vaccinations.
