
Shadow Teacher

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Shadow Teacher to provide individualized support and assistance to students with special needs or learning differences. The Shadow Teacher will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure that the student’s educational needs are met and that they have the support necessary to succeed academically and socially.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist the student with tasks and activities in the classroom to help them access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
- Provide one-on-one support and interventions tailored to the student’s specific needs and learning style.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
- Monitor the student’s progress and behavior, providing feedback and reporting any concerns to the teacher or special education coordinator.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by encouraging the student’s participation and social interactions.
- Help the student develop organizational, academic, and social skills.
- Support the student in managing any specific medical or behavioral needs as outlined in their IEP or support plan.
- Work with parents and guardians to communicate the student’s progress and any strategies that can be used at home.
- Attend and contribute to meetings regarding the student’s educational plan and progress.
**Qualifications**:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with children with special needs or in a similar support role.
- Strong understanding of special education practices and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of the student.
