**Job Summary**:
The Plastic Film Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring extrusion machinery to produce high-quality plastic films (e.g., LDPE, HDPE, SHRINK ROLL, LAMANATION FILM) according to specifications. The role ensures efficient production while maintaining safety, quality, and mínimal downtime.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Machine Operation & Setup**:

- Set up extrusion lines (blown film, cast film, or other types) based on production orders.
- Adjust parameters (temperature, screw speed, die gap, air pressure, line speed) to meet product specifications.
- Load raw materials (resins, additives) into hoppers and ensure proper blending.

**Quality Control**:

- Monitor film thickness, width, clarity, and other quality metrics using micrometers, gauges, or vision systems.
- Perform regular checks for defects (gels, bubbles, uneven edges) and adjust processes as needed.
- Document quality data and report deviations to supervisors.

**Maintenance & Troubleshooting**:

- Conduct routine maintenance (cleaning dies, replacing filters, lubricating components).
- Identify and resolve common issues (melt fractures, surging, uneven cooling).
- Assist technicians in major repairs or downtime events.

**Safety & Compliance**:

- Follow PPE protocols (gloves, safety glasses, heat-resistant clothing).
- Adhere to lockout/tag out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance.
- Maintain a clean workspace to prevent contamination or hazards.

**Production Efficiency**:

- Optimize cycle times to meet output targets.
- Minimize material waste and recycle trim/scrap where applicable.
- Complete production logs and shift reports accurately.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in plastics processing is a plus.
- **Experience**: 2+ years in plastic extrusion (film/blown film preferred).

**Technical Skills**:

- Knowledge of extrusion machinery (e.g., Davis-Standard, Windmoeller & Hoelscher).
- Understanding of polymer properties (melt flow index, cooling rates).
- Ability to read technical drawings and SOPs.

**Soft Skills**: Attention to detail, problem-solving, teamwork.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Stand for long shifts (8-12 hours).
- Lift up to 50 lbs (raw material bags, rolls).
- Work in non-climate-controlled environments (heat near extruders).
