**OT TECHNOLOGIST**

Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and
the neighboring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The
hospital is governed by a charitable trust - Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with well
- trained professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical equipment. The
hospital was designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm from North America. It is located on 13 acres
of land at New Town in Kolkata, West Bengal. The hospital is an integrated Oncology facility with well-trained

capacity of 437 beds, serves all sections of the society, with 75% of the infrastructure earmarked for subsidized
treatment for the underprivileged sections. It provides a wide spectrum of services from diagnosis and therapy to
rehabilitation and palliative support. The Institution’s objective is to excel in service, education and research.

**Job description:**

To prepare the operation theatre (OT) for the next day according to the OT list and posting
Check for all the drugs and consumables of the OT for the cases posted
To prepare for anaesthesia, drugs, central/arterial cannulation and block sets only after confirmation of

the technique from the consultants concerned
Prepare and maintain all the drugs, fluids and consumables in the correct place.
To check for the oxygen, nitrous oxide, air pressures, leakages, and connections, perform TUG test.
To check the anaesthesia workstation with regards to vaporizers, flow meter, ventilators, back up

cylinder and check the cylinder pressures.
To check up the anaesthesia monitors, modules and all connections like the ECG Leads, SpO2 Probe,

ETCO2 cables, NIBP, Invasive pressure cables
Maintain advance monitors like the EV 1000/Flotrac, BIS monitor, USG machine etc.
Maintain all airway circuits-both open and closed circuits, bacterial filters and HMEs (heat moisture

exchanger)
Keep the Soda lime canister filled and check it periodically for replacement with date labelled
Prepare and maintain sets like Spinal, Epidural, plexus blocks, internal jugular and arterial line tray
Keep important needles for epidural, central line puncture (adult /paediatric needles), guide wires

autoclaved in case of urgent requirement
Maintain sterility of the anaesthesia trolley and machine
Check function of O T table, O T light & suction machine and to keep the O T ready before starting of the

procedure.
Prepare and maintain the IV & Intubation trolley.
Maintain stock of all the anaesthetic drugs and consumables in the OT with coordination with the OT

pharmacy.
Maintain all emergency airway equipments, checking light source, battery etc.
Coordinate with the CSSD for various sterile block sets.
Sterilization and disinfection of their respective OTs.
Maintain Narcotic drug register, ampoules and maintain the documentation with the pharmacy.
Check the crash cart and defibrillators.

**Essential Qualification: Diploma in (OT) Technology** or equivalent from a recognized University.
