An Academic Counselor plays a vital role in supporting students throughout their academic journey. The primary responsibility of the Academic Counselor is to provide guidance, advice, and assistance to students to help them achieve their educational and career goals. This role involves working closely with students, faculty, and administrators to ensure students receive the necessary support to excel academically and make informed decisions about their academic and career paths.

Key Responsibilities:
Academic Advising:Provide one-on-one academic counseling to students to help them select appropriate courses, majors, and academic pathways.
Assist students in setting academic goals and developing personalized academic plans.
Monitor and evaluate students' academic progress and provide feedback to help them stay on track.

Career Counseling:Offer career guidance and support to help students explore career options, identify their strengths and interests, and make informed decisions about their future.
Assist students with resume building, job searching, and interview preparation.
Organize career-related workshops and seminars to enhance students' job readiness.

Student Support:Act as a point of contact for students facing academic or personal challenges, providing emotional support, referrals, and resources.
Address academic issues such as course scheduling conflicts and academic probation, and work with students to find solutions.
Collaborate with other support services on campus to ensure students receive holistic assistance.

Program Information:Stay informed about academic programs, course offerings, and university policies to provide accurate information to students.
Assist in creating and updating program materials, including academic guides, course catalogs, and degree requirements.

Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including academic plans and counseling session notes.
Prepare reports on student success, challenges, and recommendations for program improvement.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure students receive consistent and accurate information.

Professional Development:Stay up-to-date with best practices in academic advising and counseling through training, workshops, and conferences.
Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance counseling skills.

Qualifications:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of academic programs, university policies, and career development resources.
- Experience in academic advising or counseling is a plus.
- Familiarity with relevant computer software and student information systems.

**Salary**: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
