Key Responsibilities - **Supervision and Coordination**: - Supervise, guide, and coordinate the work of junior OT technicians and nursing staff. - Allocate duties and prepare duty rosters for the team. - **Pre-operative Preparation**: - Ensure the OT is fully prepared for surgeries, including arranging instruments, sterile equipment, and consumables. - Verify the functionality and readiness of all equipment and supplies. - **Assistance During Surgery**: - Provide technical assistance to surgeons and the nursing staff during procedures by handing instruments and consumables. - Maintain the sterile field and follow strict aseptic techniques. - **Sterilization and Infection Control**: - Monitor and ensure strict adherence to sterilization protocols and infection control measures. - Conduct regular physical verification of all OT equipment and maintain fumigation records. - **Inventory and Maintenance**: - Manage and maintain inventory of surgical instruments and consumables, ensuring timely requisitions. - Report any defective equipment or instruments for repair or replacement to the OT in-charge. - **Patient Safety and Comfort**: - Assist with patient transfer and positioning on the operating table, ensuring patient safety and comfort. - Actively participate in the "Time Out" safety checklist before surgery begins.
