**Job Summary**:
The Chemist in an Environmental Laboratory is responsible for performing chemical analyses and testing on environmental samples to detect contaminants and pollutants. These samples may come from water, wastewater, soil, or other environmental sources. The role involves using various laboratory techniques, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and contributing to the protection of public health and the environment through detailed and accurate testing.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. **Sample Collection and Handling**:

- Collect, preserve, and transport environmental samples (e.g., water, wastewater, soil) in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure samples are handled and stored correctly to maintain their integrity, preventing contamination or degradation.

2. **Chemical Analysis**:

- Perform chemical analyses of environmental samples using instruments such as titrimetric methods, spectrophotometers, pH meters, EC meters, TDS meters, turbidity meters, and gravimetric techniques.
- Test for various environmental parameters, including pH, TDS, TSS, COD, BOD, total hardness, total alkalinity, and fluoride and other spectrophotometric analyses in water and wastewater samples etc
- Conduct calibration and maintenance of analytical instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.

3. **Data Interpretation and Reporting**:

- Analyze and interpret test results to determine contaminant levels in the samples.
- Compile, summarize, and report findings in a clear and concise format for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare reports that meet regulatory standards and assist in environmental compliance audits and assessments.

4. **Quality Control and Assurance**:

- Adhere to laboratory best practices and quality control protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Maintain raw data and log books for all laboratory activities, ensuring traceability and compliance.
- Participate in proficiency testing and ensure that all analyses meet industry standards.

5. **Compliance with Regulations**:

- Ensure all laboratory operations comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Maintain NABL documentation and ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Stay current with changes in environmental laws, standards, and industry best practices.

6. **Health and Safety**:

- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to laboratory safety protocols and chemical hygiene plans.
- Properly dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with regulatory requirements.

7. **Collaboration and Communication**:

- Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, regulatory agencies, and clients to interpret results and contribute to environmental studies or reports.
- Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders, such as clients or the public.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field (required).
- Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s) in chemistry or environmental science can be beneficial but are not mandatory.
- **Experience**:

- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in an environmental setting.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
