Writer-researcher

The Writer-Researcher (WR) is a key member of the Editorial and Content Team (ECT), responsible for developing compelling and persuasive content that secures grant funding and advances client fundraising objectives. The WR combines strong writing, research, and communication skills with a passion for contributing to impactful work. This role involves crafting high-quality grant proposals and other fundraising materials, supporting the development of funding and content strategies, and collaborating effectively with team members to achieve shared goals. The WR is committed to continuous learning and professional growth, seeking opportunities to enhance their skills and contribute to the overall success of the team and its clients.

**ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The WR has key responsibilities in the following areas:
**Fundraising and Communications Content Development**
- Develop compelling narratives and messaging that resonate with grant funders and are designed to help clients cultivate, secure, and maintain strong relationships with grant-making organizations
- Ensure all content produced is free of factual and grammatical errors, meets Smarter Good's quality standards, and aligns seamlessly with the client's brand voice, values, and style preferences

**Teamwork and Task Management**
- Manage assigned tasks within projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines, prioritizing tasks, communicating proactively about progress, and contributing to overall project success
- Collaborate with team members across different verticals, working closely with team members on content strategy and development
- Participate in team meetings, share information effectively, contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, and support communication efforts with clients, as needed

**Technology and Process Support**
- Use technology and relevant tools, including AI-assisted writing tools, to support content creation and submission, primarily for enhancing efficiency and assessing funder fit

**Professional Development and Strategic Contributions**
- Actively participate in learning opportunities to enhance research, writing, and communication skills
- Contribute to the ECT Strategy Hub by supporting senior team members in shaping client strategic frameworks and messaging, learning about the strategic planning process, and contributing to fundraising initiatives

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- At least two (2) years of full-time business or technical writing experience is an advantage
- Fresh graduates are open to apply
- Bachelor's Degree
- A strong command of technical American English, with excellent grammatical standards and solid writing skills
- Experience and/or genuine interest in international development, social entrepreneurship, and the nonprofit sector - grant proposal writing experience preferred
- A flair for the creative with an analytical approach
- The capability to think and work with mínimal supervision, combined with the ability to work well in teams and to be open to peer-sharing and brainstorming
- Integrity and strong work ethic
