**DESCRIPTION**:
As a film/video editor, you’ll manage material such as camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects to produce a final film or video product. This is a key role in the post-production process and your skills can determine the quality and delivery of the finished result. You’ll usually work closely with the director to achieve the desired end result.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**:
Proven work experience as a Video Editor
Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g., Avid Media Composer, Premiere and Final Cut)
Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity
Creative mind and storytelling skills
Extraordinary attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
Excellent communication skills and experience interfacing with clients
Ability to effectively communicate ongoing project status with producers and senior artists
Ability to collaborate with creatives to solve production challenges and deliver the highest quality of work
Ability to work with creative teams to improve creative ideas and executions
Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with creatives and producers

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Work to a brief, and maybe an outline of footage and/or a shot list, script, or screenplay
Assemble raw footage, with camera shots, either recorded or transferred onto video tape in preparation for inputting into the computer
Input uncut rushes and sound, and synchronise and store them into files on the computer
Digitally cut files to put together the sequence of the film and decide what’s usable
Create a ‘rough cut’ (or assembly edit) of the programme/film and determine the exact cutting for the next and final stages and also create the final cut
Reorder and fine-tune the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video.
Suggest or select music
Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience
Take a brief to grasp production team’s needs and specifications
Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity
Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film
Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process
Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency
