**Job Purpose**

The ZDHC Foundation is seeking an experienced (10+ years) result-oriented Air Emissions Expert to drive the activities of the greenhouse gas (GHG) impact area of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme. The Subject Matter Expert will provide technical expertise within the Air Competence Centre and support other Competence Centres, such as Sustainable Chemical Management, Water Stewardship and Fibres & Materials within the ZDHC MRSL Sustainable Chemical Management Framework. Scientific research on current best practices and innovations in monitoring and reducing air emissions related to the value chain within the têxtile and footwear fashion industry and structurally collecting feedback from internal and external stakeholders is crucial in this role. This research will link into the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme guidelines and solutions for continuous improvement.

**Key Roles and Responsibilities**
- Lead the Air Emission Competence Centre and provide technical expertise and technical advice on all topics relating sustainable chemical management to the impact on air quality, including emission guidelines, GHG calculation models and innovations for the têxtile and leather value chain.
- Develop a ZDHC Air Emission Guideline and supporting tools to drive the têxtile and leather industry towards reduction in GHG emissions and chemical pollution impacts.
- Work in coordination with the other Competence Centres (Water Stewardship, Sustainable Chemical Management and Fibre, Material and Products), the Roadmap to Zero Delivery Team, Technical Writer and Quality Management.
- Research and develop science-based project impact metrics that integrate with the overall ZDHC Roadmap to Zero 2030 strategy.
- Work out the correlation of VOC emissions from MRSL substances and OHSAS limits for worker safety.
- Tracking global air pollution legislation and standards.
- Conduct research on innovations in engineering control and processes to reduce air quality impacts and GHG emissions.
- Keep up-to-date on the latest developments related to air emission and environmental topics, and maintain industry best practices library.
- Together with Quality Management, create processes for the updates of the guidelines and document the work.
- Support the Technical Writer in Knowledge Base article writing for the ZDHC community to get guidance on Roadmap to Zero Programme processes and guidelines and frequently asked questions.
- Work with ZDHC Contributor Task Teams and Advisory Groups for their inputs on the content and managing timelines for continuous improvement of the air emission guideline and supporting documents.
- Analyse and follow up with feedback given by the ZDHC community (internal and external).
- Support the Roadmap to Zero Implementation Team for technical expertise in the development of tools (such as Air Emission and Resource Efficiency Module) and global implementation projects of funding agencies, as well as the Quality Team in managing the Laboratories/Certifiers acceptance and update process.
- Build case studies on industry best practices in air emissions abatement processes.
- Provide technical support to ZDHC Academy in the development of training modules related to the GHG impact area.

**Required Skills**:

- 10+ years experience in environmental engineering with a focus on air emission activities related to têxtile, leather, footwear or similar production.
- Master’s degree in science, chemical, civil, têxtile or environmental engineering or equivalent with specific experience and/or education related to climate change mitigation and air/greenhouse gas emission management in the têxtile, leather, or footwear industry.
- Additional accredited courses in climate change mitigation and/or greenhouse gas emission reductions.
- Knowledge of GHG Protocols and Reporting methods, including GHG Protocol, API Methodology, GHG registry reporting, CDP, and/or ESG and Sustainability Reporting.
- Experience with GHG/carbon accounting and reporting models and tools.
- Knowledge and experience in working with multinational brand/supply chain collaborations and partnerships.
