A social studies teacher's job is to educate students in history, geography, sociology, and political science. They are responsible for:

- **Lesson planning**: Designing lessons that meet school and state requirements, and are based on student interests, needs, and strengths
- **Teaching**: Delivering lessons in an engaging way, and reviewing textbook material with students
- **Assessing**: Writing and proctoring quizzes and exams, grading assignments, and providing feedback

Social studies teachers typically have a bachelor's degree in education or a social studies field, and a valid teaching license. They should have excellent communication skills, and be able to inspire and motivate students
