**Introduction**

Many years back, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up engineering center in Bangalore to expand its reach to Indian talent pool. Over decade, this center expanded its capability and scope beyond engineering to global manufacturing, supply chain operations and other shared services. One of the major functional group of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam’s global engineering footprint.

There is an opening for the role of **Mechanical Designer II** within the CEG CoE Group in LIGHT organization. This position will be based out of Bangalore, directly reporting into the Associate Manager of LIGHT CEG CoE and closely working with the Engineering & Cross functional teams at Lam India and other regions

**Eligibility Criteria**

Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 3+ years of experience in Mechanical component engineering.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Responsible for identification of key technical parameters for Mechanical COTS (Commercially Off the Shelf) parts.
- Responsible for identification of interchangeable or similar Mechanical part during qualification of any COTS part.
- Authorize technical specification sheets written for COTS parts.
- Responsible for standardizing the technical content of COTS parts in the specification sheets.
- Responsible for dimensional accuracy of the COTS parts maintained in PDM.
- Responsible for maintaining the portals of COTS parts for effective search and retrieval.
- Identify existing parts suitable to be used in product designs per product group requirements.
- Communicate with product groups regarding duplicate parts/Preferred parts.

**Mandatory Skills required**
- In depth Knowledge of Mechanical COTS parts predominantly used in Semiconductor industry.
- In depth knowledge on key parameters of components and its change impact on design.
- Knowledge of product life cycle stages of COTS part in PLM and PDM.
- Knowledge of Component Classification and ownership, Component data check.
- In depth knowledge on various commodities, manufacturer sites and ability to locate component based on specification given.
- In depth knowledge on decision making of component parameters when two components given

**Desirable Skills**
- Working knowledge of Engineering Change control process
- Working knowledge in any of the PDM / PLM systems
- Has good communication skills (written & verbal)
- Experience with PLM, Library management and various industry standards and compliances such as IPC, NEC, NFPA, UL 508, IEC, SEMI, ASME, MIL standards
- Excellent organizational, data collection and presentation skills
- Able to suggest and resolve technical issues or, if relevant, improvements on validation
- Familiarity with manufacturing and design environments is a plus.
