Inspecting Workmanship: Ensure that repairs and maintenance work on ships meet established quality standards and specifications.
- Material Inspection: Verify the quality and suitability of materials used in repairs, including paints, coatings, welding materials, and replacement parts.
- Welding Inspection: Conduct visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on welded joints to ensure they meet specified welding procedures and standards.
- Dimensional Checks: Verify dimensional accuracy and alignment of repaired components, including hull structures, piping systems, and machinery installations.
- Testing and Calibration: Perform functional tests and calibration checks on repaired equipment, machinery, and systems to ensure proper operation and performance.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality-related documentation. Prepare inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality assurance documentation as required.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that repair activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Coordinating with Contractors: Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders involved in repair projects to ensure adherence to quality requirements and timely completion of work.
- Problem Resolution: Identify quality issues or discrepancies and work with relevant parties to address them promptly. This may involve recommending corrective actions, implementing rework procedures, or escalating issues to management as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide feedback to management on areas for process optimization and enhancement of quality control procedures.
