**The team you'll be part of**

Our Business Group is a leader in wireless mobility networks and associated services. With more than 3.500 patent families essential for 5G we have a strong 5G portfolio and are a front runner in open and virtualized radio access networks (O-RAN and vRAN).

The team you’ll be a part of is a cohesive unit with deep expertise in algorithms and architecture of radio access networks. The focus is on making innovative and insightful algorithm and architecture enhancements, backed by rigorous performance analysis, for enhancing Nokia’s RAN performance and differentiation, evolution to 5G Advanced, and 6G. The team interfaces to 5G architecture and specification, R&D teams, Product Management, and Bell Labs for algorithm/architecture solutions and performance analyses for 5G features, devising technology evolution roadmaps, and incorporating and influencing standards and future technologies including 5G Advanced and 6G.

As part of our team, you will:

- Develop and enhance algorithm and architecture concepts and analyze performance for current and next-generation mobile wireless networks, including radio access network algorithms, architecture, emerging technologies and new vertical markets, with focus on scheduling/radio resource management/physical layer/user-plane (including resource allocation, link adaptation/power control, massive MIMO/beamforming for SU-MIMO/MU-MIMO, carrier aggregation, etc)
- Adapt algorithms and optimize performance for various architectures, including real-time systems and multi-core SoCs with parallelization, for classical as well as cloud architectures
- Adapt RAN algorithms to wireless standards such as 3GPP and exploiting degrees of freedom provided by the standards for differentiation and improved performance
- Design and implement machine learning algorithms using state-of-the-art machine learning tools for MAC layer, scheduling and radio resource management, and physical-layer problems in wireless networks
- Support specification activities such as concept/feasibility studies/feature analysis
- Validate the performance benefits of new design concepts using mathematical models and/or link-level and system-level simulations and/or prototypes/proof-of-concept/benchmarking
- Analyze lab and field data in the above areas, and support field issues including log analysis for root cause diagnosis.

**Your skills and experience**

You have:

- In-depth knowledge and familiarity of 5G systems, architecture, and standards, and working experience in the Radio/PHY and/or Medium Access Control (MAC)/Radio Resource Management (RRM) areas and User-plane areas
- Knowledge and working experience in scheduler/radio resource management, user-plane, and PHY/radio, including resource allocation, link adaptation, power control, beamforming, single-user and multi-user MIMO, carrier aggregation, load-balancing, URLLC, slicing, coordinated scheduling, coordinated multipoint/distributed MIMO, etc.
- M.E., M. Tech., MS, or Ph.D (preferred) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with specialization in Digital Communications and Digital Signal processing and/or Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence techniques and state-of-the-art tools, with 10 years of relevant experience.

It would be nice if you also had:

- Knowledge of machine learning techniques, such as, Deep Neural Networks, Deep Q learning, etc, and familiarity and working experience with tools used for machine learning, such as, python, tensorflow, Keras, etc.
- Familiarity and working experience with real-time systems, as well as with cloud-based and distributed architectures
- Familiarity and hands-on working experience with large scale system simulators, being able to make necessary modifications to conduct performance analysis of new concepts and algorithm designs including performance evaluation, enhancements, and optimization
- Knowledge of physical layer and signal processing technologies in the areas of massive MIMO, beamforming, channel estimation, single-user and multi-user MIMO, and cooperative multipoint operation, advanced receiver algorithms such as IRC/Minimum Mean squared error (MMSE) and Multi-user receivers
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Matlab
