Psychiatric Nursing Lecturer

**Responsibilities**:

- Contributing to the development and delivery of the undergraduate teaching programme in Psychiatry
- Course facilitation and lecturing on the undergraduate teaching programme in Psychiatry
- Directing and co-ordinating specific programmes in Psychiatry in association with the Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry and the Professor of Psychiatry.
- Contributing to the clinical services of the relevant hospital as appropriate
- Ensuring that all Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety
- Representing the best interests of the Department/RCSI at all times
- Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time.

**Personal Specification**:

- Experience of teaching and assessing students in an academic environment is desirable
- Experience in research is desirable.
- The person needs to have an interest in lecturing and interacting with undergraduate students
- The successful applicant should have good communication skills

**Qualification**:

- Master in Science in Nursing (M.Sc) required.
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency.
- Licensed to practice medicine in state of practice
- Current DEA registration
- Excellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM criteria
- Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
- Strong working knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
