**General Summary**:
The role will require strong Technical, IT functional expertise, Innovation and lead the IT Incident troubleshooting working collaborating with Cross functional teams.
This role will lead the RCA or solution to any IT related issues across multiple functional areas within the Engineering IT function such as - User authentication, AD, DNS, LDAP architecture, HPC Grid software, Display technologies, platform architecture, Storage, VM technologies, proactive monitoring, and alert management systems etc.
This Role will partner with Global Engineering IT stakeholders, cross functional teams and the Engineering leadership, to Troubleshoot and RCA any kind of IT issues.
Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. Role may require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
This role will also mean:
- Creative thinker and problem solver, able to distill complex problems down to actionable items with scalable solutions.
- Deep and broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies in Engineering IT and multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.
**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Work as an Incident Commander driving and resolving major incidents and problems within the HWEIT environment working with the CO, COO groups and other stakeholders.
- Acknowledge the Major Incident and set guidance to determine type of major incidents.
- Identify Similar issues or known errors, design ways to identify repeat issues, known problems in the system for a quicker resolution
- Provide direction on collecting the data from systems, analysis, change logs etc. - should be able to challenge vendors with logs, info collection tools, best practices
- Run System level events’ correlation. Make effective use of internal and external tools such as Splunk, Datadog, dashboard to determine how the environment responds to an issue
- Diagnose the issue and should be able to provide temporary and permanent resolutions with the summary of pro and cons of those actions
- Review the possible work arounds and dependencies. Define line of action, Monitor the resolution execution and proliferation
- Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).
- Approve the RCA : Ensure 5 why process is followed to determine -what caused the failure, categorize it based on admin error, failure due to RFC gone wrong
- Monitor the PRB and implementation of permanent fix, if any and approve closure
- Deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.
- Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
**Highly Desired Technical Experience in 1 or more of the following areas**:
10+ years’ experience with Problem management, Major Incident management ,
Excellent knowledge of SUSE Linux Operating System
Working knowledge of compute servers, ESX vmware, Networking and Firewall.
Experience working with different Storage technology and tools (NAS/SAN) - NetApp
Strong Programming experience with scripting knowledge like SHELL, PERL or Python
Understanding of SCM version control, LSF, HPC systems, license and GRID administration tools such as LSF.
Understanding of silicon design/EDA work flow and knowledge of engineering design flows and supporting EDA tools
- Analytical skills to prioritize mission-critical work activities and communicate priorities to others, remove roadblocks that threaten to derail progress, and make timely and difficult decisions about tradeoffs with incomplete information.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
- 10+ years of related Incident Commander experience.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
- 4+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
