**Job Profile: Database Administrator II | System Engineering Team**

**Location: Bangalore | Karnataka**

**ABOUT THE TEAM & ROLE**:
The production engineering team is responsible for the smooth operation and security of the production infrastructure at Swiggy. We thrive to excel & continuously improve on the key operational pillars ( Reliability, Security, Observability, Elasticity and Governance). We design, build and operate Swiggy’s cloud infrastructure and supporting platforms, to provide a flawless customer experience.

This role will contribute to- Reliability, Availability and Security of the critical database infrastructure at Swiggy (MySQL, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch and Redis)- Observing, identifying and correcting performance and scale bottlenecks of these databases.- Automating/Codifying repetitive operations and providing self service tools- De-risking data availability using highly consistent data backup/restore methods.

**What qualities are we looking for?**- Familiarity with software engineering practices including unit testing, code reviews, and design documentation.- An interest in building internal products with other engineers as your customers.- Experience with AWS and Kubernetes. -
- Track record of building self-service and high-quality platforms for developers with a customer-driven mindset. -
- Curiosity about how things work and love to share that knowledge with others.- 3-5 years of professional experience in software engineering, working in a team environment. -
- Proficiency in at least one programming language like GoLang, Python, Java. - B Tech/M Tech in Computer Science or equivalent from a reputed college.

**What you should have?**- Hands-on experience with datastores like MySQL, PostgreSQL on AWS or similar infrastructure platforms- Hands-on experience on NoSQL datastores/caches like ElasticSearch, MongoDB and Redis- Hands on experience on Amazon DynamoDB and DAX will be a plus & preferable- Hands-on with Datastore management principles and practices (Availability, Backup management, performance management, security, proactive monitoring, encryption etc)- Experience in building and operating large distributed datastore infra.- Understanding of operating systems, virtualization, containerization is a plus- Hands-on coding on any of the languages like Bash, Python or GoLang is a plus- Familiarity with software engineering practices like unit testing, code reviews, and design documentation.- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills- Curiosity about how things work and love to share that knowledge with others.- Act like an owner, strive for excellence- At least 3 years of professional experience as a datastore engineer in infrastructure/production engineering teams.
- B Tech/M Tech in Computer Science or equivalent from a reputed college.
