**Description**

**Position Overview**:

- An Operating Theatre Technician is a vital member of the surgical team responsible for preparing and maintaining the operating room, assisting during surgeries, and ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are available and functioning.
- They collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthetists and nurses to provide efficient and safe surgical care.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Preparation of the Operating Room**:

- Set up and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure the sterility of the operating room and instruments.
- Check and prepare anesthesia equipment.
- **Assisting During Surgery**:Assist surgeons and anesthetists during procedures, Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team as needed and Monitor and manage equipment during operations.

**Post-Surgical Duties: Patient Care Maintenance and Documentation**:

- Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after procedures.
- Dispose of medical waste in compliance with protocols.
- Restock operating room supplies for upcoming procedures.
- Assist in transferring patients to and from the operating room.
- Help position patients appropriately for surgical procedures.
- Monitor patient vitals as directed by medical staff.
- Inspect and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment to the relevant department.
- Maintain accurate records of surgeries, equipment use, and sterilization logs.

**Preferred Education**
- Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology
- Diploma in OT technician
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Operation Theater Technology
