Principal Data Scientist

Key Responsibilities
- Technical Competency:

- Lead NLP initiatives, including Generative AI and LLMs (OpenAI, HuggingFace, Mistral, Gemini etc.)
- Drive system design and development, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
- Propose and define technology vision for emerging technical areas.
- Program/Product/Project Leadership:

- Define technology and solution strategies for a portfolio of products.
- Drive reusability and standardization across portfolio of solutions - with a product mindset and outside-in perspective.
- Align with organizational vision and propose execution plans.
- Manage vendor relationships as needed.
- Team Leadership:

- Recruit, manage, grow, and retain top talent.
- Execute talent management processes and manage day-to-day people scenarios - including technical guidance, feedback, mentoring, conflict resolution etc.
- Identify growth needs of an individual team member and help them be the best version of themselves.
- Stakeholder Management:

- Engage with stakeholders and build strong business connections.
- Maintain effective communication channels for wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Organization Initiatives:

- Drive and manage new initiatives aligned with business goals.
- Be energetic and flexible to accommodate evolving needs of the Organization.
- Operational Excellence:

- Operate with a continuous improvement mindset, analyzing, improving, and maturing the existing processes, tools, and frameworks for NLP product development and delivery.
- Understand, analyze and enhance existing processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related fields.
- Experience:

- Overall experience of 12-15 years in the IT industry, with 9+ years in NLP, solving unstructured data problems, machine learning, and data science.
- 5+ years of experience in python coding, with proficiency in common NLP and ML libraries and frameworks such as NLTK, spaCy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
- Knowledge of the latest trends and developments in the field.
- Experience in System design and development with ability to architect and implement scalable and robust solutions.
- Real-world team leadership experience of managing at least 5-7 member team and ability to motivate, inspire, and empower a diverse and distributed team is a must.
- Strong program and project leadership skills, and ability to plan, execute, and deliver high-quality products within budget and timeline.
- Very good stakeholder management skills, and ability to build and maintain effective relationships and communicate clearly and persuasively.
- Strong soft skills, such as (indicative list) collaboration, teamwork, humility, very good communication, working with compressed timelines, working in evolving, ambiguous environments, and attitude to get things done.
