The intern will assist in the research work being undertaken at CSTEP in the area of Geographic Information System (GIS).

**Responsibilities**
- Perform research and analysis in the GIS domain.
- Assist with experimentation, testing, and optimisation of statistical-approach-based geospatial models.
- Gather and assimilate optical satellite imagery for the various use cases (renewable energy, hydrogen, climate, water, etc.).
- Conduct data exploration and quantitative research, and provide customised analytical solutions and insights to meet project requirements.
- Work with project teams to assess and organise complex data assets from a variety of sources for spatial modelling.
- Advise staff and partners on geospatial analyses and visualisations on request.
- Conduct geospatial analysis (raster and vector) in support of renewable energy monitoring.
- Present the relevant information in an understandable way in various meetings and presentations.
- Produce high-quality maps using various mapping tools.
- Contribute to written outputs, including peer-reviewed articles, research papers, and blog posts.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Ability to code and develop prototypes in Python, and experience working with Python libraries like numpy, gdal, rasterio, matplot, etc.
- Good analytical and mathematical skills.
- Ability to analyse spatial data and spot patterns and trends in the data.
- Experience with satellite images, and basic experience in one of the geospatial softwares (like QGIS, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, etc.)
- Good communication and presentation skills, and ability to work in a team.
