Bouncers may also manage guests' disagreements and resolve conflicts to promote a safe and welcoming space. The primary role of bouncers is to maintain order in the venue. They also have the authority to call the police if necessary.

Besides controlling the entry and exit of an event venue, here's what they do on a typical workday:

- **Welcoming customers**: Bouncers are typically the first people guests meet when they enter an event venue, bar or restaurant. A bouncer is responsible for making customers feel welcome in the place, and they may greet customers or welcome them, depending on the venue.
- **Assisting clients**: Bouncers can also assist customers and clients in the venue. For example, if there is an injury, they can help the client get medical care, or if a client loses their belongings at an event venue, they can help them recover their items.
- **Maintaining security**: Some venues and events contain a large group of people crowding into a small space. A bouncer might enforce guidelines to ensure crowds are safe for the guests.
- **Checking identity cards (IDs)**: Some venues, such as bars and clubs, have age restrictions. Bouncers make sure they check everyone's ID to ensure they're of the right age before entering the venue.
- **Checking dress codes and guest lists**: Some events may allow access only to guests or require people to dress in a certain way to align with the event's theme. It's the work of the bouncers to make sure that whoever comes in has an invitation and they have the appropriate dress code.
- **Collecting cover charge**: Bouncers collect cover charges for the events that require attendees to pay before entry. They also issue a receipt to the guests upon payment so they don't require paying again if they walk out of the event venue for a short duration.
