Principal Enterprise Architect

Our colleagues enabling this change are a priority and we are looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect to join us to lead BT’s Enterprise Architecture within the Employee Experience Domain.

This is an exciting and broad Principal Enterprise Architect role covering:

- **End User Technology**: Endpoint Devices; Device Management; Endpoint Security; Endpoint Application Management; Remote Access.
- **Colleague Identity and Access Management**: Authentication Systems; Identity Governance and Administration; Privileged Identity Management
- **Colleague Experience**: Employee Help and Support; Employee Experience Platforms
- What you’ll be doing:
- Architecture-
- Business capability, complexity, cost, risk and maturity assessments of the current state architecture to meet business outcome and simplification goals
- Creating simple and agile architectures for the Employee Experience domain that drive clear business value and re-use pan-BT whilst removing cost and legacy from the landscape
- Developing and maintaining realisable capability-based roadmaps spanning a 5-year horizon
- Supporting the selection of any IT vendors, suppliers and partners for the Employee Experience Domain
- Driving business transformation through Enterprise Architecture throughout the IT lifecycle
- Maintaining and communicating up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, skills change, and emerging technologies within your area of expertise.
- Strategy and Planning-
- Developing and supporting the creation of an IT strategy owned by the Chief IT Architect
- Maintaining a strong network of vendors and technical specialists to ensure the architecture and technology is based on industry best practice and considers vendor’s strategic road maps.
- Supporting the review of budgets and project portfolio investment to ensure alignment to IT strategy/roadmaps.
- Support reality-checkpoint review of roadmaps with delivery teams.
- Leadership-
- Partnering with Director level colleagues to collaboratively develop and specify the organisation's vision, goals, opportunities and related activities in order to maximize the business benefits of Colleague Experience initiatives to the organisation.
- Promoting and evangelising the IT strategy and Enterprise Architecture services across all teams and ensuring there is consensus and understanding across the business for your domain and the landscape.
- Ensure peers and the Solution Architect community are fully aware of the latest IT strategy and EA guidance within your Enterprise domain.
- Governance-
- Defining company architecture policies for acquiring or developing systems/software within the company for the Colleague Experience Domain.
- Responsible within the Colleague Experience domain for consistency to enterprise level standards/best practice and for the development of patterns/policies for re-use.
- Ensuring BT remains compliant to Legal, Regulatory and Security requirements- You are passionate about driving business transformation through architecture
- You feel at home communicating with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

- You can investigate business problems and identify the root cause behind them, considering both business-side and technology-side factors.

- You have independently coordinated challenging technical work involving colleagues from multiple teams.
- You have created architecture plans and road maps with multiple phases.
- You have developed and documented the business case for technical interventions.
- You have presented options assessments that convinced your colleagues they should support your recommended way forward.
- What you’ll need:
- Clearly demonstrable Enterprise Architecture experience working at C Level including working in a mid-large/complex scale organisation
- Evidence of leading material business change through Enterprise Architecture
- Ability to communicate in both the business jargon and the technology jargon and translate effectively between the two.
- Experience of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks including TOGAF, and their relevance to the practice of Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF certification not essential)
- Experience in running light-touch, fit for purpose governance processes in large organizations
- Strong knowledge of a broad range of colleague experience technologies and vendors including but not limited to Microsoft, Google and ServiceNow.
