- **Treatment planning**: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists and other members of the care team.
- **Procedure assistance**: Assist cardiologists in performing procedures, such as cardiac catheterizations, stress tests, and other interventions.
- **Medication management**: Prescribe and titrate cardiac medications, monitor therapeutic responses, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- **Patient education**: Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and symptom management.
- **Administrative duties**: Perform daily rounds, manage patient admissions and discharges, and document patient encounters thoroughly in electronic medical records.
- **Clinical collaboration**: Work with other healthcare providers, including intensivists and surgical teams, to ensure continuity and coordination of care.

Essential skills and qualifications
- **Advanced education**: A master's degree from an accredited PA program is required.
- **Certification**: National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification is necessary.
- **Clinical skills**: Proficiency in interpreting cardiovascular diagnostic tests and performing clinical procedures.
- **Communication**: Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- **Attention to detail**: Meticulous attention to detail is critical for tasks like documenting patient encounters and managing medication regimens.
- **Collaboration**: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
