Team Leader - Molecular Biology

**Position Purpose**:
The role holder shall report to the team leader and shall perform research activities (cloning, expression in Bacteria, Yeast, fungal and mammalian systems), and engineering of proteins - directed evolution.

**Strategic Responsibilities**:
**Research Activities**
- Design, plan, assist and execute assigned molecular biology work
- Develop skills and capability in molecular biology domain
- Build intellectual proficiency in molecular biology
- Prepare and operate complex instrumentation required for the experiments.
- Tabulate results, analyze and extrapolate results data to develop theories for explaining observed phenomenon.

**Documentation**
- Document and record findings in research reports / papers for further dessimination / filing.

**Process Adherance & improvements**
- Adhere to all safety / information security / quality norms related to research procedures.
- Participate in process improvement inititatives under direction of Head - Enzyme & Fermentation.

**Knowledge Management**
- Participate in knowledge management initiatives by contributing to KM portal.
- Contribute to competitor intelligence through secondary research, participation in internal / external forums, professional organizational networks.
- Identify and utilize best practices in formulation development.

**Reporting**
- Update timesheets / progress trackers and submit to supervisor as directed.

- Collaborate with team members and cross functional teams to ensure meeting research objectives.

**Education Qualification**:
**Work Experience**:
2-3 years of post-academic industrial research experience

**Industry to be Hired from**:
Agro Chemical / Pharma / Research Universities or Institutes

**Functional Competencies**:

- Excellent clinical and laboratory skills including knowledge of lab procedures (experience in handling of microbials highly appreciated), equipment and protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong exposure to various analytical/preparatory platforms such as HPLC/FPLC, GC, MS.
- Strong capability & knowledge strong capabilities and interest in heterologous gene expression in E.coli, yeast, fungal and mammalian systems, protein engineering, directed evolution and familiar with fundamentals of biochemistry to play an effective interfacial role with biochemical group.
