**Job description**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Design Development**:

- Create detailed plumbing and fire fighting system designs, including layouts, schematics, and specifications using CAD and BIM software.
- Develop, design, and implement Plumbing and Fire Fighting systems for various real estate construction projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems into overall project designs.
- Conduct site surveys and inspections to assess existing systems and propose upgrades or new installations.
- Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure designs meet project timelines and budgets.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, including resolving design-related issues and conducting on-site inspections.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents.
- Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize design efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure all MEP systems are designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind.
- **BOQ Preparation**:

- Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities for plumbing and fire protection systems, detailing materials, labor, and costs.
- Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure alignment on project scopes and budgets.
- **Material Specifications**:

- Develop comprehensive material specifications for plumbing and fire fighting systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials and equipment based on performance and cost-effectiveness.
- **System Analysis**:

- Conduct load calculations and system analysis for plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Recommend optimal solutions based on analysis and design considerations.
- **Code Compliance**:

- Ensure all designs comply with the National Building Code (NBC), local building codes, fire codes, and industry standards.
- Stay updated on NBC regulations and best practices in plumbing and fire protection design.
- **Collaboration**:

- Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated designs.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors during the construction phase to resolve design-related issues.
- **Documentation**:

- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and project specifications.
- Assist in the preparation of bid documents and cost estimates.
- **Project Management**:

- Support project management efforts by participating in project meetings and providing design updates.
- Monitor project timelines and budgets, making adjustments as necessary to meet project goals.
- **Quality Assurance**:

- Conduct quality checks on designs and documentation to maintain accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in design reviews and implement feedback from senior engineers.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Diploma / Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in MEP design, specifically in plumbing and fire fighting systems.
- Proven experience in preparing BOQs and material specifications.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, plumbing, and fire protection systems. (including HVAC, electrical - not mandatory)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools.
- Strong understanding of plumbing and fire protection codes, including the National Building Code (NBC).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

**Working Conditions**:

- Office environment with occasional site visits.
