**CHRYSALIS COUNSELOR** **SUMMARY** Provide strategy, oversight, leadership, and coordination to Chrysalis Counseling. **VISION** Chrysalis Counseling is a ministry of APC Bangalore, that serves people by administering Biblical, Spirit-led, practical counsel to strengthen, heal and restore. **SCOPE** While primary responsibilities will be at Chrysalis Counseling, these are tightly inter-twined with the work and ministry of APC as a local church and hence will require close interaction and coordination with APC ministries and departments. **ROLE DESCRIPTION** The Chrysalis Counseling Coordinator will lead Chrysalis Counseling, and will be responsible for the following: 1. Counseling Services **Chrysalis counseling services will be available for those from church and those from outside church, including people from different faith, religious and cultural backgrounds. ** Identify specific areas of need across age groups and demographics where counseling is required. For example, these would include: Children/Teens, Twenties, Pre-Marital, Marriage, Financial, Career/Professional, Rehab, etc. For children/teens some common problem areas that would need to be addressed would include: study pressure, coping with peer pressure, conflicts at home, purity/character, Adolescence changes, relating to parents, Abuse/trauma, etc. **Develop a clear strategy on how we will address each area of need both in the short term and long term. Part of the strategy will be to recruit suitable people, and work in partnership with other independent counselors and Christian organizations, addressing the same area of need. ** Provide Marriage Preparation Course to Christian couples from APC and outside who are preparing for marriage. For APC Couples, coordinate this process with assigned APC pastors. **Provide basic Counseling courses to believers who wish to be trained to serve people better. ** Host workshops and seminars to serve and equip people. As invited by APC Bible College Administrator, assign Chrysalis Counseling staff to teach counseling and other related courses at APC Bible College. **Assist other ministries at APC with Counseling services when required. As APC’s Counseling ministry is entirely Christian Counseling, it is important that strategies adhere to the following guidelines**: Always approach from a strong Biblical perspective. There is a lot that the Scripture teaches on each of the "problem areas". Counselors must be able to provide God's Word for these areas. **Always invite the work of the Holy Spirit ** Teach counselees (who are believers) to depend on the Lord, tap into God's Word and the power of His Spirit, so that a deep inner work of healing will be done. **Provide practical tools/exercises to deal with problems.** 2. Counseling Outreach **Identify and develop counseling services that address important needs in urban context that can be provided to reach out to people outside the local church context. Example: suicide, divorce, etc. ** Develop strategies to promote and make these services available to people outside the church context. Example: Educational institutions; Workplaces; Youth; etc. **Develop counseling services that could be provided online to English speaking people globally. ** Promote Chrysalis counseling services globally through online digital platforms. 3. Counseling Team **Recruit and enlist the services of professionally trained Christian counselors, who are aligned to the vision and mission of Chrysalis counseling. This will include full-time staff and consultants. ** Ensure team is provided continuous learning with new developments in Counseling, kept well-informed, motivated and serve counselees with compassion and excellence. **Facilitate training for Counseling team to be established in the Word and in the work of the Holy Spirit, so they can combine the spiritual with their professional knowledge when serving people.** 4. IT Systems and Infrastructure **Develop and deliver useful content through Chrysalislife.org, the Chrysalis Counseling website. ** With the IT team ensure that Chrysalis Counseling workflow uses a software system to engage, track and record all engagements with in-person or online counselees. Ensure strict confidentiality of all records are maintained. 5. Administrative Procedures **Ensure Chrysalis counseling is professionally managed administratively and financially.** **QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS** - Must have a definite call of God to this kind of Christian ministry. **7 years of more of professional counselling experience in any relevant setting (corporate, hospital, local church ministry, educational institution, etc.) ** An advanced degree (Masters or higher) in Psychology, Christian Counseling or related field. **A strong personal walk with God, knowledge of God’s Word and walk in the Spirit. Able to draw from the Word and the Spirit, to serve people, in addition to professional counseling knowledge. ** Must have been activ
