Lab Assistant

**Job Title**: Civil QC Lab Assistant

**Job Location**: Chennai, Tamilnadu

**Job Overview**

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Material Testing**:

- Assist in performing laboratory tests on construction materials (e.g., soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt) to ensure they meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct tests such as slump, compression, moisture content, sieve analysis, and other related tests as required.

**Sample Collection**:

- Collect samples of materials from construction sites or suppliers for testing.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of samples for tracking purposes.

**Data Recording and Reporting**:

- Record and maintain detailed logs of all test results and sample data.
- Prepare test reports and ensure timely submission to the QC Supervisor/Project Manager.

**Laboratory Maintenance**:

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the lab.
- Regularly inspect lab equipment and tools, ensuring they are calibrated and in good working condition.

**Compliance and Quality Assurance**:

- Assist in ensuring that all materials used in construction meet regulatory and quality control requirements.
- Work with the QC team to resolve any material quality issues.

**Collaboration and Communication**:

- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with contractors and suppliers regarding material quality concerns.

**Safety Protocols**:

- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols while conducting tests and handling materials.
- Ensure the safe disposal of hazardous waste materials, if applicable.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification in laboratory testing or quality control is a plus.

**Experience**:

- Previous experience in a laboratory or quality control role, preferably within the construction or civil engineering sector.
- Familiarity with testing methods for construction materials and equipment.

**Skills**:

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests and recording results.
- Basic knowledge of construction materials, testing procedures, and safety protocols.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) for report preparation and data management.
- Good communication skills for interacting with team members and contractors.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to stand for long periods and handle manual tasks.
- Comfortable working in a laboratory environment with various testing equipment.
