**Job Title: Student Counselor**

**Job Overview**:
As a Student Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support to students in various aspects of their academic and personal lives. Your primary responsibility is to help students overcome challenges, make informed decisions, and achieve their academic and personal goals.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Individual Counseling**: Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to students dealing with academic, personal, or emotional issues. Listen attentively, assess their needs, and offer appropriate guidance and support.
- **Academic Advising**: Assist students in course selection, academic planning, and career exploration. Help them understand academic requirements, set goals, and develop strategies for academic success.
- **Personal Development**: Support students in developing life skills, such as time management, stress management, and study skills. Provide resources and techniques to help students thrive personally and academically.
- **Crisis Intervention**: Respond to crisis situations such as emotional distress, mental health concerns, or emergencies. Provide immediate support and refer students to appropriate resources or professionals when necessary.
- **Group Counseling**: Facilitate group counseling sessions on topics such as stress management, coping skills, and interpersonal relationships. Create a supportive environment for students to share experiences and learn from one another.
- **Educational Workshops**: Plan and conduct workshops or seminars on topics relevant to student development, such as study strategies, career planning, and mental health awareness.
- **Referral Services**: Collaborate with other departments and external resources, such as mental health professionals, career advisors, and academic support services, to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
- **Documentation and Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, assessments, and referrals in accordance with confidentiality and privacy policies.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Relevant counseling experience, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude towards students.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques and ethical standards.
- Familiarity with mental health resources and referral processes.

**Working Conditions**:

- The role primarily operates within an educational institution, such as a school or university counseling center.
- Flexible working hours may be required to accommodate student schedules, including evenings and occasional weekends.
- Counseling sessions may take place in private offices or designated counseling spaces within the institution.
