**Main purpose of job**:

We are focused on promoting the UK as the ideal investment destination for existing, new and potential Indian investors and working with them to support them to set up and to grow their global investment ambitions in the UK.

The DIT India and South Asia team, operating from the British High Commission in India network, is looking for a dynamic, high-calibre colleague who will help to further strengthen the UK-India FDI relationship. India is currently the second largest investor into the UK. You will work towards retaining this top slot and play a key part in the delivery of our inward investment strategy.

The main purpose of the job will be to develop a pipeline and secure inward investments projects from Western India into the UK from priority sectors. You should be a self-starter who is highly organised, can plan, self-manage and build productive relationships. You will be based out of the British Deputy High Commission in Mumbai and will be expected to:

- Encourage and deliver high value investments across priority sectors by carrying out research towards lead generation and conduct business development
- Promote the UK as the preferred destination for inward investment for Indian companies based in Western India
- Manage Data Hub (internal CRM) with client interactions and project updates, file reports
- Build and maintain strong and productive relationships with commercial partners, trade bodies and multipliers to facilate a strategic approach to support/attract high value investment
- Support the DIT Investment Senior Management Team and HQ on ministerial/senior official visits, events and initiatives to drive the delivery of the investment strategy
- You will be supported with opportunities for learning and development, career development and the role will likely travel (TBC). You will join a high-performing, diverse team of supportive colleagues.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

**Lead generation research, client engagement and recording (80%)**

To support and contribute to the delivery of investment targets and ensure that a healthy pipeline of future investment projects is developed through client-facing interactions. This includes:

- Identifying new leads from designated sectors/ territories including Tier 2 cities
- Follow up on leads, setting up of meetings, preparing for meetings and making presentations to potential investors about the benefits of setting up/expanding in the UK
- Supporting the requirements of qualified leads in a timely manner working with colleagues in India & the UK commercial partners and regional agencies
- Ensure Data Hub (DIT’s CRM system) is kept updated and refined with clear and accurate data on pipeline projects. Ensure ongoing documentation of client interactions and recording of relevant information towards delivering investment successes.
- Arranging and promoting events and good news stories including through social media platforms

**Visits / events/ finance management (20%)**
- To assist and support the Head of Investment - Western India and Senior Investment Leadership Team in the effective delivery of (V)VIP, Ministerial, Sector specialists, DHC (Deputy High Commissioner), UK team visits by organising meetings with new and existing investors. These could be within the UK or India towards influencing their expansion plans or to assist companies with taking the first step into the UK.
- This could also include end to end planning and delivery of events.
- Vendor and budget management for delivery of investment campaign activities ensuring compliance to published guidance.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- 2+ years of relevant commercial and business experience
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a pleasing personality leading to an ability to develop a business network and manage relationships with clients
- Existing network of contacts and experience of past activities undertaken would be seen as a strong plus
- Excellent team working skills, with strong ability to build cooperative working relationships across our own network, and outside of the British High Commission network with a wide range of organisations
- Ability to multitask and track multiple varying client requirements
- IT competent: Skilled at using social media to gather and propagate information efficiently. Highly competent in standard MS Office tools,
