Nicolas Howard is excited to be recruiting for the role of **Legal Counsel** for our legal client. The role is based within their General Counsel division which looks after regulatory and compliance matters as well good practice generally and innovation across the business.
This is an ideal opportunity to experience working in an ‘in-house’ environment. As a member of the in-house legal team you will be working on projects which are shaping the way the Group does business and which will have an impact on the way they work as lawyers.
**The job role**
The work will involve commercial contracts law helping to review, draft and negotiate a wide range of business critical agreements in areas such as IT, outsourcing and client services, research and preparing advice. You will be working on tools for contract hub products, training materials and guidance to share ‘best of kind’ documents with the wider firm and help to record and monitor the large and varied range of contractual arrangements across the group. You will also help manage ‘outsourcing’ of other legal work to expert advisers and to help manage and develop junior lawyers in the team.
**Requirements**:
The skills needed for the in-house solicitor role are likely to have been developed in a commercial law environment, principally contract drafting and negotiating high value agreements. You must be an exceptional communicator as you will be dealing with clients, who are also your colleagues; investing in and developing these working relationships to ensure there is an awareness of the in-house team’s capabilities across the business.
