A staff nurse's responsibilities include:

- **Patient care**Providing high-quality care for patients' physical and mental health. This includes monitoring their health, preparing them for treatment, and administering medication.
- **Patient education**Educating patients and their families on illness prevention and health promotion.
- **Treatment**Performing treatments, starting and monitoring IV therapy, and interpreting test results.
- **Emotional support**Providing psychological and emotional support, and advocating for patients.
- **Record keeping**Recording patient health progress to help with future care.
- **Safety**Identifying hazards in the workplace, developing health and safety programs, and documenting injuries and illnesses.
- **Staff development**Assisting with the development of other staff.
- **Training**Attending regular training to stay up to date on new procedures and healthcare developments.
- **Collaboration**Working with other healthcare professionals to create multidisciplinary teams.
