An Operating Theatre (OT) Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting surgical procedures and patient care in a hospital's general outpatient department (OPD) and surgical areas involves preparing the operating room, maintaining equipment, assisting during surgical procedures, and ensuring a sterile and safe environment. They work closely with surgeons and assistants, providing support for patient care and surgical processes. Key Responsibilities:
- **Preparation**: Preparing the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available and sterile.
- **Sterilization**: Maintaining a sterile environment by properly sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- **Assisting During Surgery**: Providing support during surgical procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and assisting with patient positioning.
- **Patient Care**: Assisting with patient transfer, monitoring comfort, and ensuring safety during the procedure.
- **Hygiene and Infection Control**: Adhering to strict hygiene protocols to prevent infections and maintaining a clean operating room.
- **Inventory Management**: Keeping track of surgical supplies and ensuring their availability.
- **Waste Management**: Properly disposing of biomedical waste according to established protocols.
- **Documentation**: Completing necessary forms and maintaining records.
- **Emergency Support**: Assisting the anesthesia team in handling emergencies outside the operating room.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Participating in quality assurance activities and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
Required Skills and Qualities:
