Job Title:
Overlock Sewing Machine Operator

Job Summary:
The Overlock Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for operating an overlock (serger) sewing machine to stitch, seam, and finish garments or fabric products according to production requirements. The role ensures accuracy, speed, and quality while following company standards and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate an overlock sewing machine (serger) to join, edge-finish, and hem fabric pieces.
- Read and interpret job orders, patterns, and sewing instructions.
- Ensure stitching quality, alignment, and neat finishing.
- Inspect fabric pieces before and after stitching for defects or damages.
- Maintain production speed while minimizing material waste.
- Adjust machine settings such as thread tension, stitch length, and needle position as needed.
- Handle different types of fabrics (cotton, polyester, knit, etc.) carefully.
- Report machine faults, fabric issues, or shortages to the supervisor.
- Perform minor machine maintenance such as cleaning and oiling.
- Follow workplace safety rules and maintain a clean work area.

Skills & Qualifications:

- Basic knowledge of garment construction and sewing techniques.
- Prior experience as a sewing machine operator (overlock/serger preferred).
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot overlock machines.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Work Environment:

- Factory/production floor setting.
- Requires sitting for long periods.
- May involve repetitive tasks.
- Noise from sewing machines.
