Textile designers have many responsibilities, including: Designing: Create patterns and designs by hand or with computer-aided design (CAD) software. Textile designers may also create color palettes using Pantone chips. Sampling: Make samples by dyeing and printing, and present them to customers. Researching: Keep up with fashion and têxtile design trends, and research new fabrics and designs. Collaborating: Work with clients, technical staff, marketing, and buying staff to plan and develop designs. Producing: Produce handmade products or send designs for manufacture. Marketing: Market and sell products online, at craft fairs, or through retail outlets. Traveling: Attend trade fairs and travel nationally or internationally. Working with materials: Consider the cost and quality of yarns, dyes, and materials. Specializing: Specialize in an area, such as clothing, furnishing fabrics, or hand crafted têxtiles.
