**Job Summary**
We seek a motivated **Researcher** to lead innovations in **ethanol fermentation processes**, with a focus on **lignocellulosic biomass (e.g., bamboo, agri-waste)**. The role involves optimizing enzymatic hydrolysis, yeast strain development, and scaling fermentation technologies to industrial levels.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Fermentation Process Development**:
- Design and optimize **SSF (Simultaneous Saccharification & Fermentation)** and **SHF (Separate Hydrolysis & Fermentation)** systems for max ethanol yield.
- Test novel **yeast strains** (e.g., _S. cerevisiae_, _P. stipitis_) for inhibitor tolerance (furfural, acetic acid).
- **Enzyme & Pretreatment Optimization**:
- Evaluate **cellulase/hemicellulase cocktails** (cost vs. efficiency trade-offs).
- Develop **acid/alkali/steam explosion** pretreatment protocols.
- **Data-Driven Scaling**:
- Translate lab results (1L bioreactors) to **pilot-scale (10,000L)**.
- Collaborate with engineers on **CIP (Clean-in-Place)** and **downstream purification**.
- **Sustainability Integration**:
- Reduce water/energy use by **30%** via process redesign.
- Valorize byproducts (lignin, CO₂) for circular economy.
- **Industry-Academia Partnerships**:
- Liaise with **IITs/ICAR** for GM yeast trials.
- File patents/Publish in **Q1 journals** (_Bioresource Technology_, _Fuel_).
**Qualifications**
- **Education**: Graduate in **Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or Microbiology**.
- **Skills**:
- Hands-on experience with **HPLC, GC, FTIR** for metabolite analysis.
- Proficiency in **DOE (Design of Experiments)** and **statistical tools** (Python/R, JMP).
- Knowledge of **CFD modeling** (for bioreactor design) - _preferred_.
- **Experience**: 0-3 years in **industrial fermentation** (biofuels/pharma).
