**Responsibilities**:
1. Work closely at all times with the project team, collaborating fully with other staff in a multidisciplinary approach to the needs of trainees and/or young adults.
2. Spend a significant part of time each week in groups with trainees/kids/young adults, in order to develop a comfortable rapport and a closer understanding of them and to support staff in their working situation when applicable.
3. Support family members, particularly parents, in understanding their child’sdevelopment and advice on applicable areas relating to their child, in conjunction with other staff as applicable.
4. Facilitate or lead groups for parents, in conjunction with other center staff.
5. Carry out individual counselling or group sessions with trainees or young adults as applicable, in collaboration with other center staff.
6. Support staff in developing their knowledge or skills regarding aspects of child development, the impact ofdisability on development, practical strategies for specific needs and so on.
7. Where appropriate, model specific strategies for staff or parents as part of helping them to develop their own skills.
8. Prepare formal reports or other documents regarding individual children when requested by the project head, using language which is accessible to the reader (including to a parent when applicable).
9. Maintain professional standards of confidentiality in matters relating to trainees/young adults,, families and staff. As part of this, the counselor should share information with other team members who are involved with a particular child, but only if such information is related directly to their work.
10. Provide psychological advice to project staff if applicable in areas which relate directly to their work.
11. Provide psychological support to other Foundation centers as and when requested by senior staff.
12. Maintain written records of work done with trainees/kids/young adults or families, and make these available on a”need to know”basis to other professional staff who are involved with that child.
13. Prepare formal reports or other documents regarding individual trainees/kids/young adults when requested by project heads, using language which is accessible to the reader(including to a parent when applicable).
14. When appropriate assist the project head or other staff in organizational areas where a counselor’s perspective may be useful.
15. Assist in, and when applicable, lead internal and external trainings which relate to your field of expertise, as requested by the reporting manager or senior staff.
**In addition to the above, a counsellor may be asked by the Senior Staff to**:
1. Represent the Foundation at conferences and other networking opportunities.
2. Participate in research initiatives undertaken by the Foundation.
3. Move to other centres as and when required
**Like all professional staff, the counsellor must**:
1. Keep up-to-date with professional developments relevant to your work and attend appropriate training opportunities when approved by the reporting manager.
2. Observe full professional standards in working with children, families and staff, including the immediate reporting of any concerns regarding child protection issues.
3. Participate in project, team and Foundation meetings or workshops as applicable.
4. Comply with all Latika Roy Foundation policies, including those regarding child protection, supervision and appraisal, attendance and leave, etc.
5. Carry out any further duties which may be requested by senior staff, or the reporting manager, and which are in accordance with your professional skills.
