**Name of the Position : Blood Bank Supervisor**
**Educational Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Preferably a Master's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Hematology, or Transfusion Medicine.
- Certification in Blood Banking or Transfusion Medicine (e.g., Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) certification) is highly desirable.
**Work Experience**:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a blood bank, clinical laboratory, or related field.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience in blood collection, processing, and transfusion practices.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Operational Management**:
- Supervise all blood bank activities, including blood collection, component separation, storage, and distribution.
- Oversee blood inventory and ensure adequate supply levels are maintained.
- Coordinate with various hospital departments for blood product needs and ensure timely availability.
- Implement and monitor protocols for blood transfusion safety and compatibility testing.
**Compliance and Quality Assurance**:
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, national and international standards (e.g., AABB, NABH), and government regulations.
- Oversee internal and external audits and inspections.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for blood bank activities.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy of blood testing and storage conditions.
**Staff Supervision and Training**:
- Supervise and manage blood bank staff, including technologists, phlebotomists, and support personnel.
- Provide ongoing training and professional development for the team to maintain high levels of technical competency and regulatory compliance.
- Schedule staff shifts and ensure adequate coverage at all times.
**Donor Recruitment and Retention**:
- Collaborate with the hospital’s donor recruitment team to ensure a steady and reliable supply of donors.
- Oversee donor screening processes to ensure eligibility and donor safety.
- Manage donor retention programs and promote blood donation campaigns.
**Inventory and Equipment Management**:
- Monitor the availability and proper functioning of blood bank equipment and ensure regular maintenance and calibration.
- Manage the procurement of supplies such as blood bags, reagents, and testing kits.
- Ensure appropriate storage conditions for blood and its components.
**Documentation and Reporting**:
- Maintain accurate records of all blood donations, testing, and transfusions.
- Ensure timely submission of reports related to blood bank activities, inventory, and regulatory compliance.
- Track and report any adverse transfusion reactions or other incidents.
**Emergency Preparedness**:
- Develop and implement plans for blood supply management during emergencies or disasters.
- Coordinate with hospital administration for emergency blood drives and other response measures.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
